Open a Synced Markdown Folder

Use this if your Markdown notes already live in Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or another synced service.

How it works: Moss can open the same Markdown files where they already live. If you edit them in Moss, Moss saves back to those original files.
1

Open the folder in Moss

In Moss, use File → Open... and choose that folder.

Moss opens those notes under External.

Moss showing an external markdown folder in the sidebar.
After you open the folder, the notes appear under External in the left sidebar.
2

Edit and sync files

When you edit one of those notes in Moss, Moss updates the same local Markdown file in that folder.

Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or another sync service then sees that file change and syncs it the same way it would if you edited the file in another app.

Keep using your cloud service to view version history, restore older versions, or manage sharing. Moss does not impact those cloud features.
